I was referred to acupuncturist Pattis Safian by two of my friends. Their referrals came because I had been trying to conceive my second child at what all the specialists kept telling me was the "advanced age" of 40. I had been through one miscarriage a year and a half ago and multiple tests since that had all concluded that I was perfectly healthy so it must have just been my age. Well Patti was referred to me because of her talents but also both of my friends said what a great support system she was. When I met and started working with Patti (sometimes twice a week) I could quickly see what they meant. She is not only a very talented and gentle acupuncturist but also a fantastic cheerleader. She is incredibly postive and supportive. I had been seeing Patti for just under 3 months when we learned that we were expecting baby #2!! We were ecstatic and when I told Patti she was so overjoyed she cried too! One of the main reasons why I have my daughter Gracie today is because of the work Patti did with me for nearly a year. She provided me with a thoughtful, patient and loving acupuncture experience coupled with herbs to address my fertility struggles. We decided to move forward with a round of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and coupled this scientific intervention with Patti's acupuncture. I felt relaxed and confident that due to Patti's work with me, my body was prepared to embrace new life through this process. Sure enough, we were pregnant in our first round of IVF. Thanks Patti! Before I met Patti, I had seen several doctors about extremely heavy periods and cramping. In addition, I had blood in my uterus that was not being expelled. After an unsuccessful D+C, I knew I had to take action or I was going to end up having a hysterectomy. I went into acupuncture somewhat skeptical. I had had success in the past with it, but not for this kind of chronic condition. Patti was with me every step of the way, and was always available via text or email. After just 9 or 10 visits, I returned to my MD for an ultrasound. Much to her surprise, my uterus was normal. Patti is pretty amazing. I started going to Patti in July 2009 after my regular acupuncturist went on vacation (whom I've been going to for 4 years). It was one of the best moves I've ever made as far as my health goes. She listened to what my body was saying and helped me choose the right herbal combination for my ailment. After the first month, of taking the herbs along w/needles, I felt revived and alive again. I had been with pain for the past 4 years, and am elated to be pain free.

I have always known the one thing in life I wanted was to become a mother. Unfortunately, having a baby wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. When I went off of the pill it took months for me to have a cycle. Many people suggested acupuncture. I am not a spiritual person, and I was hesitant to turn towards holistic medicine. It was something I was unfamiliar with and didn't know if I believed in it. However, I was willing to try anything to help myself have a baby. I went to Patti to try it out and had a wonderful experience. She was so warm and helpful throughout that tough time in my life. Every time I was there I left feeling relaxed. It also made me feel like I was doing something to take control of the situation. Trying to get pregnant can be very stressful. I went to Patti once a week for 5 months. I now have a beautiful, healthy daughter. Acupuncture was an excellent experience for me and I highly recommend Patti.

I began working with Patti after trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for a year. I had heard that acupuncture can help to regulate your cycles and can help with infertility, so I thought I would try it. My cycles had been on the long side and I thought that might be part of the problem. I began seeing Patti approximately once a week. I found the treatments very relaxing and noticed that my cycle corrected itself to a shorter, more normal cycle. At this time, my husband and I also went for infertility testing and learned that he had low morphology and I had high insulin. The doctor had me begin taking Metformin to correct the insulin issue (which can lead to poor egg quality) and recommended that we do IUI (with injectibles) because of my husband's low morphology. After doing acupuncture for approximately 6 months and taking the Metformin for 3 months, we proceeded with the IUI. I believe that using the acupuncture in coordination with the IUI and Metformin helped me to get pregnant on the first IUI that we tried. I highly recommend Patti and strongly believe that the acupuncture helped us to get pregnant. I am now 17 weeks along and learned that we will be having a boy.

I first visited Patti few months after having miscarried. We had been trying to start a family for over a year. I was emotionally and physically drained. My husband and I had decided that we were going to work with a fertility specialist. However, I felt that I needed to improve my overall health and state of mind in order to make the most out of the other treatments. Friends recommended that I try acupuncture.
During my first consultation, Patti and I reviewed the results of the survey and discussed how I was feeling and my experiences to identify the areas that needed assistance. We developed a plan and Patti provided dietary recommendations specific to my needs.
A couple of months after starting acupuncture treatments, my doctor discovered that I had fibroids that needed to be removed. Patti used this information to adjust my treatments to help ensure that the fibroids would not grow back.
I continued to see Patti for over 6 months on a weekly basis. Over the course of my treatments, my menstrual cycles became more regular and less heavy. My digestive system improved as did my spirits. During this time, we underwent fertility treatments, including an IUI, all were unsuccessful. Our next stesp was IVF.
In preparing for IVF, we focused more on the timing of my treatments. We tried to scheduled appointments right before expected ovulation to stimulate the process. We also met right after ovulation to improve the chances of fertilization.
In April, only weeks prior to starting IVF, we conceived on our own!
I believe that this was a result of a combination of things, with acupuncture being a key component. The timing of the treatments was right for that month and I remember feeling really good. Making simple dietary changes also helped.
I am happy that I went to see Patti. Her expertise in acupuncture combined with her nurturing personality really made a difference. She truly cares for her clients.

Patty's magic touch changed my life! When I was a junior in college overseas I was in a bad moped accident. I had fallen on my back but after a brief hospital stay I was fine. I was only 20, after all. But 30 years I now have back flare-ups. Recently I did something while working out couldn't sleep or work without excruciating shooting pains in my back. Even getting in my car was an ordeal. After two days I went to a conventional doctor who prescribed boatloads of medication and took an x-ray. I knew Patty did acupuncture and decided to give it a try before I went the narcotics route. I hobbled over to Patty's office and she immediately knew what to do. She held my hand, looked me in the eyes and said, "you're going to be fine". That night-I was still hurting and my husband thought I had wasted my time and money. But in the middle of the night I got up for a drink of water and went back to bed and realized a miracle had just occurred! I was no longer in pain! The pain had completely and totally gone away! Not even a teeny tiny bit of pain was left. Since then, Patty is the person I go to if I have any back problems at all. I even took my 13-year old daughter to Patty when she had pain due to her extracurricular sports activities. I highly recommend Patty to anyone who has a physical ailment or wants to improve his or her overall health.

After 2 miscarriages, I sought acupuncture treatment to try to improve my chances for a healthy pregnancy. Patti was wonderful and helped me through a very difficult time both mentally and physically. I am happy to say that after 5 months of treatment, I was pregnant with a healthy pregnancy and eventually gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl!
